Graphic Artists this is for you! For the program Blender, how do i install Python?

January 14, 2011 – 10:18 am

I just started using blender, and downloaded python 2.6.2, later only to find out that i need Python 2.5.2…

I would think that a more updated version would be better, but one source said that it would only work with 2.5.2 (the python site is no help)

When i do install whichever one i need… Is there a specific folder i need to install it to?

Any help is much appreciated,

  2. You need the python version that was used when Blender was compiled, so any 2.5 version is fine. 2.6 will work in the newest 2.49 r3 python 2.6 version, though.

    1) Install Python 2.5 to C: drive. (e.g. c:\python25\ )

    2) going to my Computer -> Property -> Advanced tab ->
Environment Variable -> user Variables (Vista: right-mouse click "Computer", click advanced settings in left column)

    3) press new
    variable name : PYTHONPATH
    variable value :

All without spaces, I had to place each variable on a new line, otherwise Answers shortens it)
    4) click OK

    It should work now.
