Java Certification, is it enough to get a developer job?
May 31, 2011 – 5:15 amI am getting J2EE certification (from grad program at U. VA) and JAVA Programming Certification. Would it be enough for me to get a job as a JAVA developer?
Background is in Business management, BA.

The certs are overpriced but sometimes they get you the job interview in spite of the advertisement saying "2+ years verifiable on-the-job experience".
You have positioned yourself well. CIS or DBA was the choice when I went. It is the CIS part that is easily outsourced. DBA involves commerce server-technology. Database is so abstract, and installations are so custom-made that you will be grilled at interviews on layered architecture and java basics such as interface.
To give you a taste of layered architecture, try to find the Manning Publications "POJOs In Action". Be aware that Hibernate is the hottest of the latest-and-greatest.

It can not guarantee you a job, but it will help, it is definitely better that just Business management degree alone.

not such a high paying job but yes you can start your Career as java programmer with a less paying job
