How can I prevent someone accessing my files with some sort of Linux disk?

My dad enjoys looking at my files every once in a while using this disk to bypass my login screen! How do I prevent this?

  2. Welcome to the world of computer literate dad’s. If you have nothing to hide you have no problem. If you have then all you can do is move it somewhere else.

  3. You can’t, except by preventing him getting access to your files by keeping them somewhere else.

You could encrypt the files then all he’d see would be garbage of encrypted files.

  4. You can’t. That’s what the disk is designed for. It’s good to see that your dad takes your safety seriously enough to keep an eye on you.

  5. password protect each and every file that you don’t want him reading all thou If he thinks about it he will still be able to get around it but it will make him think.
Or change to a linux o/s ourself then password protect as ex4 is alot harder to get around that ntfs.

  6. Use encryption software to password-protect them. Not even Linux can see past encryption.

    Here’s one, for example:

  7. the linux disc will bypass the security of windows thats why he uses it, the only way to secure them is to use file encryption which is actually really easy to do. There is a free opensource program called truecrypt (truecrypt.org) you make a encrypted drive on your computer and store your files in that, even if your dad worked for the NSA he wont be getting at them any time soon… as long of course as you use a really long hard to guess password or code.
